Pardon my French, but it’s a f*cking crime that Stacey Pullen is playing at APT. No offense to the APT folks, but the venue is too small and not dancefloor friendly enough for the jams that the great Detroit techno DJ will be laying down. He is by far my favorite of all the Detroit DJs—offering smooth, funky, interesting sets with unbelievable flow and musical tension. I’ll settle for standing in the corner and wiggling my ass, anyway.

Thursday @ 10, APT, 419 W 13th, 212.414.4245

Go to a party, see a little art, hear some music, and feel good about yourself because you’re helping a cause. That’s the m.o. behind the environmental awareness event RENEWABLE BROOKLYN—an all-day fest being held in Prospect Park, with live performances by mash-up masters 2 Many DJs and Handsome Boy Modeling School (Dan the Automator and Prince Paul, word). Plus, there’ll be performances by electro godfather Arthur Baker and Brit Richard Fearless, as well as nouveau-wavers Soviet, dance rockers Out Hud, Radio 4, and Head Automatica. Eye candy is supplied by Future Ec(h)os and Sustain (in the Tennis House), with projections by Dark.Light.

Saturday @ 3, Prospect Park. Go to for more information.

Those aching for a little nostalgia have two options, both of them new parties fronted by old-timers. SHIFT, with DJs DB and Romeo, hits the Big Six every month with a range of music on the decks. DB says he’ll play everything from electro and classic hip-hop to dancehall and funk. Friday @ 10, Big Six, 197 Bowery, 212.219.9955. That other New York old-skooler Tony Fletcher is doing a Madchester-themed party called STEP ON. Baggy pants are encouraged so you can dance properly to Britpop and Hacienda classics.

Friday @ 10, the Royale, 506 Fifth Ave, Bklyn, 718.840.0089
