Two new parties fronted by some of the old-school East Village crowd may breathe some life into the stale New York nightlife scene. KITTEN KLUB which features tried-and-true downtown kids like Theo, Leo Fitzpatrick, Alexander Thompson, Gibby, Lyle Derek, and, ahem, Paul Sevigny—is the latest rock party to join the fray. The hostess with the mostest is Drea De Matteo of SOPRANOS fame. KITTEN KLUB will feature a combo of live rock performances and DJ sets, so there’s something for everyone.

Wednesday @ 10, Plaid, 76 E 13th, 212.677.5772

On the other side of town you can gawk at the mermaids or you can shake your groove thang to the tunes provided by East Village regulars Johnny Dynell and Miss Guy. The party, called STINGRAY, is hosted by the ever fabulous Patricia Fields, who’s going back to her downtown roots after all that SEX AND THE CITY bizness. Also on hand to make sure you are having a good time and not sulking in the corner are Michael T. and Lyle Derek, who’s doing a little double dipping.

Sunday @ 10, Coral Room, 512 W 29th, 212.244.1965

Head to Brooklyn for a little R&R—rest and relaxation, that is. The infamous café/record store/DJ party, otherwise known as Halcyon, is now a wireless center. Cheaper and obviously more pleasant than Starbucks and McDonald’s, the li’l café that could offers surfing for hourly, daily, and monthly fees. While you’re answering e-mails you can listen to the sounds of E-man at Sunday’s chill HANGOVER HELPER jam. That part is free.

Sunday @ noon, Halcyon, 227 Smith, Bklyn, 718.260.WAXY
