Anti-Evolution Monkey Business in Georgia

Georgia’s state school superintendent, Kathy Cox, a Republican, doesn’t want kids to use the term “evolution” anymore. She would prefer that they say “biological changes over time.” Cox hopes teachers can deal with “competing theories,” and by doing so, give creationists a chance to have their say. Or as a school spokesperson put it, “The discussion of evolution is an age-old debate, and it is clear that there are those in Georgia who are passionate on both sides of the issue—we want to hear from all of them.”
