Franz Ferdinand are so, like, over. All the cool kids have already moved on to Bloc Party, a Brit foursome that’s already got enough buzz to claim cell-phone ring tones. They are sort of Strokes-y, but with more dissonance, getting a little bit messier than their poppy counterparts. A mini-hipster convention of sorts called More! More! More! will take place at the Tribeca Grand. JDH spins with Justine D of Motherfucker fame, as does Dave P, who seems to have single-handedly brought cool to Philly with his Making Time parties. Saturday @ 10, Tribeca Grand, 2 Sixth Ave, 212.519.6600

Charge your brain cells instead of destroying them at Tokion magazine’s Second Annual Creativity Conference, which features big talks with smart people like downtown photographer Ryan McGinley (who’s being interviewed by Nan Goldin), music genius Brian Eno, Howard Dean’s former campaign manager Joe Trippi, and musicians Carl Craig and Trevor Jackson. After you’ve absorbed all that information (sort of like school!), you can go home and ruminate about how much smarter you are for attending. (Just don’t go drinking.) Saturday & Sunday @ 11 a.m., Great Hall of Cooper Union, 7 E 7th, 212.358.9818,

Dublab, an L.A.-based radio collective, got the bright idea of giving 450 of their friends blank 12-inch record sleeves to design their own artwork for Up Our Sleeve. See what the minds of Shepard Fairey, Mike Mills, Saul Williams, and Jack Black came up with. While your eyes feast on the sights, your ears will feed on music provided by the Dublab Soundsystem DJs, plus special guests Caural, Prefuse 73, and DJs from the Turntable Lab. Friday @ 6, Aurora Gallery, 515 W 29th,
