Provisional, Absentee Ballots May Hang Up Florida

According to the Miami Herald’s election blog, all Florida counties have until noon Thursday to submit final unofficial counts, which will involve reviewing for accuracy and tallying 80,000+ absentee ballots and an unknown number of provisional ballots. Provisional ballots are being cast for the first time and the rules for counting them are unclear.

” On Tuesday, the board reviewed 88 provisional ballots cast during early voting, approving 15 and rejecting the rest [83%] for reasons ranging from voters who were not registered or improperly registered to voters with felony records whose voting rights had not been restored.”
