Report: ‘Dead-Check’ Marine Caught on Tape Won’t Be Charged

CBS is reporting that the Marine captured by an NBC cameraman in November killing an injured and apparently unarmed Iraqi fighter in a Fallujah mosque won’t be charged by military prosecutors, because of a lack of evidence. “When news breaks that the Marine will not be prosecuted, it will not go over well here,” reports Kimberly Dozier from Iraq.

Update: Reuters is reporting this denial by the U.S. military, who say that the investigation into the Iraqi’s death continues.

In Germany yesterday, a military court convicted two British soldiers of abusing Iraqi civilians in May 2003. They both face up to two years in prison.
