As one of the world’s most sought-after industrial designers, Marc Newson has created everything from a dish drainer to a private jet to a concept car for Ford Motors. What he has not touched, till now, is denim. His spring 2005 collaboration with Dutch company G-Star is his first, and while admittedly not all is noteworthy—like those plain white cotton tees merely splashed with a Newson logo—most of the denim is pretty space-age fresh. The line has been described as influenced by Cosmonaut clothing and, interestingly enough, Japanese worker gear. Expect another Newson line come fall.
