It’s Gay Pride week, but that doesn’t mean you have to suffer through a 14-hour meth fest at some superclub with bad trance and sweaty topless men doing the humpty dance. Instead, you can go to
Cherry Bomb, hosted by Murray Hill, with performances by Bitch (formerly Bitch and Animal), the always nekkid Dazzle Dancers, and Dynasty Handbag (plus many more). Ms. Handbag—a terribly disturbed individual and the reigning Miss Lower East Side—is a freakin’ crackpot genius.
Thursday @ 9, Knitting Factory, 74 Leonard, 212-219-3132

Gay rock ‘n’ roll boys should just stay all weekend at Opaline. On Friday, super-homo Cazwell celebrates his birthday at Area 10009. He’s honored with performances by the best of the gay mafia, including Amanda Lepore, Richie Richie, Astro, and Misstress Formika (performing with house band the Untouchables). Miss thang Sherry Vine hosts; DJs Adam, Nita, Jon Jon, and EK spin hip-hop, mash-up, rock, and electro. Friday @ 9, Opaline, 85 Ave A, 212-475-5050

On Saturday, Rated X dedicates the party to the movie Carrie for Dead Prom Night. Come dressed bloody and scary and they’ll let you in free, where Justine D (of Motherfucker) and Jess (of Trash) will spin ghoulish tunes. At midnight, the Curse of Blood perform, featuring Theo, Michael T, Miss Guy, Chantal, Peppermint Gummybear, Zach, and Laurel. I promise you’ll have a gay ol’ time.
Saturday @ 10, Opaline

Chris Love—better known to ravers of a certain age as Chris Stuck on Earth—comes out of hiding for this one-off reunion party of sorts called Dude, Where’s My Scene? He coaxed the top DJs of the early ’90s, including drum’n’bass jock DB of Breakbeat Science and Frankie Bones and Adam X of Sonic Groove out of hiding. Also on the bill are other fixtures of the New York rave circuit, house spinner Joeski, techno DJ Dave Hollands, and junglists Christian Bruna and Odi, among many others.
Friday @ 7, location to be announced in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, globalclublife.com
