Perhaps October’s just a good month for starting parties, so there are a few celebrating anniversaries. Fixed!, JDH and Dave P’s eclectic bash of everything hipster, turns one. In just a short time they’ve had Mylo, Optimo, Tom Vek, and Lindstrom & Prins Thomas. For their special day, they are having DJ Jeffrodisiac and an undisclosed special guest band playing. Whoever it is, I’m sure it’ll be rapturous. Sat @ 10, Tribeca Grand, 2 Sixth Ave, 212-519-6600

Danny Krivit’s monthly tea dance the 718 Sessions also gets a gold star for making it to year three. Not much is changing for its big day—just the usual stellar disco, deep house, funk, and soul jams played for an unpretentious, hard-dancing crowd that actually cares about that music! Sun @ 6, Deep, 16 W 22nd, 212-978-8869

Pitched as “Girl’s Rock! Crobar Celebrates a Night of Ladies on the Decks,” this party only reminds me how not-so-far-we’ve come. Why, it was just 1997 when I interviewed female DJs about how hard it is to be a female DJ and how they all hate it when promoters put them in all-female lineups and market them in neat little sexy (sexist) packages. DJ Rap, who spins house tonight and is a big enough draw on her own, nevertheless plays with two (very able) ladies, Amalia and Aphrodita. Fri @ 10, Crobar, 530 W 28th, 212-629-9000

Miss Kittin, who would never dirty her paws with such unsavory business, is headlining one of Giant Step‘s anniversary parties. She’ll be playing the hardest set of minimal bruisers you’ve heard in a while, and could probably kick your ass too. I am totally scared of her. With Dirty Dietz and James Fucking Friedman. Tue @ 10, Hiro Ballroom, 369 W 16th, 212-727-0212
