Estaban Cortazar: Models With Heads

by

This astonishingly young designer has finally reached the age of consent, though he’s been mounting fashion shows for years. He may be youthful, but there is clearly big money coming from somewhere: The pale pink dance frocks and appliqued red carpet dresses were exquisitely wrought, which could be verified close-up since Cortazar offered an installation instead of the predictable and (at this point incredibly tiresome) runway show. This particular exhibit also featured a water trough of submerged pink satin ballet slippers (unexpectedly lovely) and employed an arresting mix of headless mannequins and flesh-and-blood models, with heads.
