The Best Reason to Call in Sick

Tronic Treatment, the long-running techno party, has been happening less frequently as of late, but when there is a Treatment, it’s as if the party’s promoter is a real horny guy who hasn’t gotten laid in a really long time, putting together a lineup that should wipe out the big clubs in a nuclear fit. For the orgasmic post–Winter Music Conference one-night stand at Cielo, the TT posse are bringing techno heavyweights Steve Bug and Luciano. Bug’s the superfunkyfragilishous mastermind behind Pokerflat Recordings, a label that’s gotten far less hype than Kompakt, but whose output is arguably better and more consistent. Luciano is (stop the presses!) not German, but Swiss-Chilean; nevertheless, he speaks perfectly fluent Berlin minimalism, with textured melodies. Talk about blowing your wad. With birthday boy DJ Pjay. Thu @ 10, Cielo, 18 Little W 12th, 212-645-5700

More proof that Cielo is the new APT, except with a dancefloor: a few nights later see “It” boy Diplo spin one of his mindboggling “Look Ma! I’ve got all genres covered!” sets, with a special emphasis on music of a Brazilian flavor. The party, called Mass!, is a new regular jam devoted to sounds more exotic than New Order’s “Blue Monday.” Diplo’s playing with Cosmo Baker, Pase Roke, Ross One, and there’ll be a live performance by MC Spankrock just to make the night even more special. Get ready to call in sick Monday.
Sunday @ 9, Cielo, 18 Little W 12th, 212-645-5700

Phono hosts another stellar lineup—this time DJ T and Booka Shade of the popular Get Physical label (named after Olivia Newton-John, natch). Famous for crunchy maximalist dance music, Get Physical’s releases are quite muscular compared to its pale micro-house colleagues. With James !@ $%^ Friedman and Cowboy Mark and Function. Sat @ 10, Avalon, 662 Sixth Ave, 212-807-7780
