New York

RIP, Lox King

by

You may not have known the name Rubin Caslow, but if you’re a respectable New Yorker, he has been part of your life for years. Caslow, who died on Sunday at 86, owned Acme Smoked Fish Corporation, which is in Greenpoint and is well-known as the source for the city’s best smoked salmon, sturgeon, whitefish, and so on. Russ and Daughters, Fairway, Barney Greengrass, Zabar’s, and others continue to be loyal customers. Thanks for the fish, Ruby.
