It’s a Good One: Sriracha’s Indonesian Cousin?

I’ll admit, the label, and the fact that this hot sauce cost $1.95, were the only hints I had that the Indonesian chili sauce, Cap Jempol, would be worth trying. Indeed, the combination of chilies, water, sugar, salt, garlic, and vinegar is like a tangier, hotter version of another favorite, the Thai hot sauce, Sriracha. Cap Jempol has a looser consistency and no preservatives. Sometimes you can judge a book by its cover.
