Film Is Evil, Musicals Are Good

by

A musical, you say…

In Sunday’s New York Times, Charles Isherwood muses about what execrable films from the ’80s might be made into enjoyably awful musicals. But what movies might make pretty good musicals? I wouldn’t mind seeing sung versions of Tootsie or Blue Velvet or a couple of Almodovars. But leaving the ’80s aside, I had a think about the couple of films I genuinely would like to see staged. Today’s list:

1. The Palm Beach Story
2. If
3. The Shop Around the Corner
4. Double Indemnity
5. Pink Flamingos
