General Forecast

There’s no stopping the potent cardinal energy generated by Wednesday’s Libra new moon. Not even Mercury stopping in its tracks and turning retrograde Thursday night. So if there’s something you want to get going, do it now. Perhaps Mercury will toss a monkey wrench into the works, but unless retrograde really affects you, that’s not reason enough to wait until the next lunar cycle begins on Nov. 9. Or is it? The Messenger can help you reexamine the route you took at the autumn equinox before it turns direct on Nov. 1. If you get thrown for a loop this weekend, imagine what Halloween will be like!

Aries

Aries: Mar. 20 – Apr. 19

During this three-week Mercury retrograde, Rams will have plenty of time to reconsider recent financial decisions and the reasons you made them. You could also learn more about the people involved and, once the Messenger turns direct on 11/1, make the necessary attitude adjustments. Meanwhile, the sun focusing on your Libra marriage house not only puts you in an unusually hospitable mood, Sol’s liaison with imaginative Neptune is drawing artists and actors to, if not your door, then to your website. Midweek is best for romance.

Taurus
Taurus: Apr. 20 – May 20

Mercury retrograde in your Scorpio house of significant others might fill the next three weeks with more drama than you’ve seen in a while. Once the Messenger recedes into Libra on the 23rd, watch out for co-workers sending contradictory signals. Per usual, postpone signing contracts, including sales agreements, until retrograde is over, but if it can’t be avoided, be sure to read the small print and make certain you understand what it covers. No negotiating this weekend; spend it with a long-time lover instead.

Gemini
Gemini: May 21 – Jun. 20

Work or play? It all depends on how you react to the shift in perception that follows your Mercury ruler’s shift into retrograde. Also, how far into June you were born. But all things being equal, every Twin should be prepared for, perhaps even welcome, yet another trip down memory lane, even if the memories are fairly recent ones. Give yourself plenty of time to reconsider first impressions and initial conversations. While you may be familiar with the negative aspects of retrograde, e.g., the weird machinery disconnects, don’t downplay the benefits, e.g., the do-overs.

Cancer
Cancer: Jun. 21 – Jul. 22

First, you should realize that Mercury turning retrograde in Scorpio might not be the pain that retrograde is purported to be. When the back flip occurs in a water sign (which it has all this year) the Crab seems adept at going with the flow without getting caught up in whirlpools of circular reasoning or trapped by a restrictive belief system. Second, know that the marriage of Venus and Saturn this weekend, even though it takes place in the sign of the circumspect Virgin, favors the surge in sexual energy you may be experiencing now that horny Mars is in your sign.

Leo

Leo: Jul. 23 – Aug. 22

Look to a neighbor, sibling or fellow student for artistic inspiration. These are the folks you are currently the most compatible with, plus any one of them could evolve into long-range partnership material. Although Mercury is in the throes of changing direction, whatever confusion it may cause doesn’t have to affect the creativity you’re capable of exhibiting this week. Don’t let picayune hassles about where you live or arguments between suspicious family members distract you from following your heart’s desire.

Virgo
Virgo: Aug. 23 – Sep. 22

In the midst of typical Mercury retrograde mishaps, you could seem uncharacteristically calm, exhibiting an equanimity that we rarely associate with a nerve-wracked Virgin. Anticipating everything that can go wrong, and discussing it with everyone you know, is what we’ve come to expect. But while diplomatic Venus and disciplined Saturn are joined in your sign, you’ll serve as a model we can look up to. Consider ways to take advantage of this favorable image or at least to make it last longer than one measly weekend.

Libra
Libra: Sep. 23 – Oct. 22

Despite Mercury turning retrograde in your Scorpio house of personal finances (confusing) and your Venus ruler’s attraction to straight-laced Saturn (confounding), you are still in an enviable position. That’s because this weekend the amenable Libra sun is connected to artistic Neptune in your house of romance and recreation. Your talent, like cream, will rise to the top. So even if you don’t have a lot of experience or the proper credentials, grab your instrument — camera, voice, pencil, bedroom eyes — and put yourself out there.

Scorpio
Scorpio: Oct. 23 – Nov. 21

Consider Mercury’s retrograde trip through the first half of your sign as preparation for the karma cleaning that’ll take place when the Messenger backtracks into Libra and your 12th house of services rendered to the universe at large. Coincidentally, that crossing takes place the same day that the life-sustaining sun enters Scorpio -– Oct. 23. So while your past is being reviewed by guardian angels and ascended masters, you’ll have the power to create an image of yourself that expresses who you are at the present time. Reinvention or rehab?

Sagittarius
Sagittarius: Nov. 22 – Dec. 21

Cynical Centaurs won’t buy into the fantasy projected by the positive trine between idealistic Neptune and the harmonious Libra sun this weekend. But the “cock-eyed optimists” — you know who you are — could succumb, especially if the hoopla accompanying it “has legs.” They should also be wary of Internet scams. However, the genuinely religious may find their faith growing stronger, while hucksters and con artists will undoubtedly use this surge of spirituality for their own dubious ends. Not the usual Mercury retrograde station.

Capricorn

Capricorn: Dec. 22 – Jan. 20

More is going on than meets the eye. Mercury turning retrograde in manipulative Scorpio suggests that you track down any rumor that impacts your job or your family’s good name. It’s okay to be suspicious. At the same time, the Libra sun perfects a rewarding trine to impressionable Neptune in your money house. Will an ambiguous financial matter be cleared up? Meanwhile romantic Venus is snuggling with your Saturn ruler this weekend and they’re spending it in Virgo, a compatible earth sign that, like yours, has a fondness for the finer things.

Aquarius
Aquarius: Jan. 21 – Feb. 18

Let me remind you that Aquarius is the sign that attracts the largest TV audience; to wit, Oprah and Ellen. If you want to exert your influence, you’d best take advantage of the favorable trine between the popular Libra sun and glamorous Neptune in your sign this weekend. Why not post on YouTube and see what happens? Also remember that Mercury shifting into reverse might cause a variety of electronic and mechanical glitches, so your fifteen minutes of fame may be delayed due to circumstances beyond your control. Stay tuned.

Pisces

Pisces: Feb. 19 – Mar. 19

Reread last week’s forecast; it holds true for this week as well. Although the focus may shift from developing your own artistic potential (courtesy of your Neptune ruler) and Libran grace under pressure to depending more on your partner’s integrity, affection and staunch support. Remember, any criticism is meant to be constructive. While Mercury is retrograde, keep an eagle eye on joint financial arrangements, e.g., insurance policies and retirement plans, because that’s the area the Messenger is likely to mess with.
