The “Poet Laureate of Skid Row,” Charles Bukowski, famously wrote: “Boring damned people. All over the earth. Propagating more boring damned people. What a horror show.” But surely he wouldn’t have found anyone attending the fourth annual Praise Bukowski Night to be boring? In honor of the 14th anniversary of his death, more than a dozen local writers—including Jennifer Blowdryer (White Trash Debutante), Gary Glazner (How to Make a Living as a Poet), and a special surprise guest—read selections from Bukowski’s cynical, booze-fueled works. Plus, fans can come with their favorite Bukowski poem and take part in the open-mic session.
