Watch the rhetorical joke train roll out whenever Record Store Day appears in the distance: how can there be a Record Store Day when there’re no more record stores? Cue fuck-a-blogger: “That’s why it’s singular.” So yeah, next Saturday April 19 is Record Store Day. Björk’s screening a video nationally. Vampire Weekend, Stephen Malkmus, Death Cab are releasing limited-edition vinyl. And in our hood, in addition to a very short, very don’t-ask-don’t-tell Regina Spektor set at Soundfix, Other Music in the East Village has some blogebrity DJ sets lined up:
Tapes ‘n Tapes (12:30 to 2 p.m.)
The Black Keys (2 to 3 p.m.)
Dead Meadow (3 to 4 p.m.)
and Interpol (starting at 5 p.m.).
Tapes ‘n Tapes, the Black Keys, Dead Meadow, and Interpol will only play records they bought, of course . . .
UPDATED: Grizzly Bear vs. Deerhunter from 4 to 5 p.m.!
