It might not appear so to the untrained eye, but Yana Chupenko, Angela Di Carlo, and Lizzy Yoder, the stars of Lady Lady Lady: Mid-Summer Madness, are indeed ladies:. “It’s not a drag show. We are real women,” affirms Chupenko. This ’60s-television–style musical-variety show, directed by Kate Valentine (a/k/a Miss Astrid), features the flamboyantly dressed front-women—with collective credits including the Tribeca Film Festival, the Deitch Art Parade, and the all-girl hardcore band Pre-Metal Syndrome—singing rock covers, originals, and standards. They have three shows this summer, each with a celebrity guest. Tonight, Justin Bond steps in . . . he being the other kind of lady.
