Everyone—especially the beauty- hungry listener—is a winner when Timmy G podcasts his musical showdowns (such as June 30’s “Cocteau Twins vs. Lush”) on commercial-free, Internet-only EVR. We assume it’s all in good fun that handsome, young homo Timmy has named his weekly radio show Fast Forward Reverse, after an old Ocean Blue song; for the backstory to why this tickles the old irony bone, you’ll have to ask Seymour Stein. Timmy plays the best of good old (and new) new wave, shoegaze, dreampop, ethereal, Brit-pop, noisepop, post-rock, and punk every Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. from his tiny peach-blown cubicle on First Avenue. If you crave Ride, Mahogany, the Glove, Duran Duran, Tones on Tail, Galaxie 500, Trembling Blue Stars, Pale Saints, and others of this rarefied ilk—along with some surprises—tune in to Timmy’s streaming goodness; all episodes are archived and available for download. Oh, and as Timmy’s a little shy, perhaps it’s best to avoid standing in front of the glass-fronted, street-level EVR booth, making suggestive faces or bearing cannoli.
