Romance will definitely be in the air tonight when the acclaimed Mark Morris Dance Group, based in Fort Greene, perform two of Morris’s most crowd-pleasing dances at Celebrate Brooklyn—New Love Song Waltzes (1982) and Love Song Waltzes (1989)—in which the group’s excellent dancers bend and twirl to the music of Brahms. Tonight’s audience will also be treated to a brand-new work set to Samuel Barber’s “Excursions for the Piano” (with Op. 20, IV, III, II, I played in reverse order), which earned critical plaudits after its world premiere in July at Bard Summerscape in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York. MMDG Music Ensemble provide live music for all three pieces.
