Kate Clark’s lifelike sculptures of furry beasts with human faces (!) totally creep us out—in a good way, of course (can you imagine anyone going hunting if all the antelope, coyotes, and deer resembled little Billy or sweet Aunt Sally?). So we can hardly wait for this sneak peek of her upcoming show at Claire Oliver gallery’s New, Next, Now exhibit, a preview of all the artists arriving at the Chelsea space this fall. You’ll also see veteran painter Phyllis Bramson’s mixed-media pieces that combine collage, chine-collé, and various painting and printmaking techniques to create colorful fairy-tale scenarios; photographer Matthew Sleeth’s witty and unconventional look at the aftermath of a downpour titled Abandoned Umbrellas, 2004; Judith Schaechter’s stunning stained-glass works; and Noah Fischer’s light and sound installations that hold political undertones.
