Following up on Runnin’ Scared’s previous coverage, our roving reporter Stef files from Summer Streets Saturday II, in which a path for pedestrians, cyclists and other non-combustion-engine travelers was cleared from 7 am to 1 pm along Park Avenue and Lafayette Street:
– More crowded than last time, uptown at least — still plenty of room to move, but with more vehicle supervision: SS staff were holding signs and crying “BIKES TO THE LEFT, PEDESTRIANS TO THE RIGHT,” and, at major intersections where motor traffic bisected, “STOP.”
– Observably more very young children, “lots of little kids on bikes with training wheels riding down the middle of Park Avenue.”
– Along with bikes, Rollerblades were available for rental at a roadside stand.
Summer Streets continues next Saturday.
