Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?

(Robert Aldrich, 1962).
The bitchy battle of the century played out in a decaying Hollywood mansion between warring sister divas Bette Davis and Joan Crawford gets off to a leisurely start, but builds with ever-growing force to a strong climax. Davis plays it for all it’s worth in a grotesque and florid performance; Crawford gives a quiet, remarkably fine interpretation of her crippled sister.
