“My wife, my daughter, and I are rushing from the bomb site. We hear a roar, like a waterfall, and look back. The air smells of death,” writes Pulitzer Prize winner Art Spiegelman in his 2003 graphic novel In the Shadow of No Towers, a diary of his experiences on and after September 11 and a tirade against the Bush administration’s wrongheaded post-9/11 political agenda. Tonight, the experimental group Syntax Error and multi-instrumentalist Elliott Sharp perform the American debut of In the Shadow of No Towers (After Art Spiegelman), a musical video piece based on the book, featuring animated film and live narration by actor and playwright Eric Bogosian.
