TWISTED SISTERS

by

Kicking off its 25th-anniversary season, the eternally bold Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company presents A Quarreling Pair, a playful re-imagining of Beat Generation playwright Jane Bowles’s puppet play about two elderly sisters, who are inextricably linked, yet forever in conflict with one another. Jones—a storyteller in his own right, if not a remarkable creator of dances steeped in social commentary—uses Bowles’s narrative to orchestrate fantastic movements in a cheeky world where one sister meets a gaggle of unexpected characters (including a scheming vaudevillian, a nasty cross-dresser, and a bawdy emcee) on her road to self-discovery and independence from her sibling.
