On his new album Songs of the Bushmen, described as a “musical impeachment” of the Bush administration, Harry Shearer sings: “A thousand dollars will buy you/a pretty nice day at the store/but 935 lies will get you/a trillion-dollar war.” Tonight, cry into your beer as Shearer (best known as the voice of Ned Flanders and Mr. Burns on The Simpsons) musically recaps the last eight years with his band the High-Value Detainees. Each song from the album is dedicated to a different cabinet member or Bush adviser (“Stuff Happens” goes, of course, to Rummy; “Gym Buds” is for Condi; and “Turd Blossom Special” is for Karl Rove). And for the debut of his new song “Bridge to Nowhere,” Shearer’s wife, Judith Owen, impersonates Sarah Palin.
