Wanna make a horse fly or shoot a rock video only with Legos? Then you’re ready for a crash course in tripped-out moviemaking with the whimsical director Michel Gondry, who will discuss his new book You’ll Like This Film Because You’re In It: The Be Kind Rewind Protocol tonight at the Strand. The how-to guide is based on his Be Kind Rewind exhibit at Deitch earlier this year, in which he created various movie sets (including a train, a city street, and camping grounds) for visitors to shoot their own movies on. A firm believer in the DIY philosophy (i.e., it doesn’t matter if a movie is good or bad as long as you made it yourself), Gondry will no doubt be an inspiration to all who attend.
