New York Looks to Obama Presidency, Predicts “Shitstorms”

In New York magazine, John Heilemann figures “the outcome of the race has begun to seem more certain with each passing day,” so why not start speculating on the Obama Administration now? Heilemann is not optimistic: President Obama will “find himself staring down the barrel of a downturn so steep and ugly that it could easily consume his whole first term.” Also, Democratic Senate numbers are looking similar to “the doomstruck 1993–95 session” that wiped out many of Clinton’s most ambitious plans. Plus universal health care “isn’t likely to happen anytime soon,” “the gathering shitstorms on the horizon will test him quickly and severely,” etc. All we can say is: Been there, projected that.
