The New Economy: Starbucks Down; McD Up


Ad Age reports that Starbucks fourth quarter sales are down by a whopping 97 percent. Meanwhile McDonald’s, like a cockroach in nuclear winter, manages to eek out a 8.2 percent gain. Boo.

Not only that, but Blimpie’s also seems to be doing poorly in the city. While Blimpie’s are not exactly great places to eat, the company does give its franchise owners free reign to create delicious things like this, which makes us root for the dirty little underdog sandwich shops. Midtown Lunch reports that the Blimpie’s that makes the so-bad-it’s-good vegetarian special sandwich will soon go the way of the dinosaurs–and tells us that another Blimpie’s closed last month.
