Mayor Tells Us to Shake Salt, Is Peppered with Abuse

The Mayor’s war on salt is announced in New York magazine, which says Bloomberg’s health commissioner calls salt-related high blood pressure “the greatest public-health threat facing the city” and reports “restaurateurs will be encouraged to join a ‘voluntary’ initiative.”

The news does not delight local palates. “Yeah I need Felix Unger over there telling me how much salt I can put in my soup,” gripes a Daily News commenter. “The city’s greatest health threat is economic insolvency,” says the Neighborhood Retail Alliance. “It’s time to get these Nannys the old heave ho.”

A Queens Crap commenter has a suggestion: “Let’s all mail King Bloomberg our stool for examination so he can tell us exactly how we should alter our dietary habits.”
