Taxi Driver Extorts iPod from Cashless Girl, 20

Here’s one of those heartwarming stories that show what New York’s all about, courtesy of a young woman took a taxi to JFK and found her credit card wouldn’t work in the cab’s card reader, nor did she have enough cash to pay. The cabbie summoned Port Authority police, who “told her that she would have to give him something” in lieu of standard currency. Normally this is where it gets sexual, but in this case the driver wound up with the woman’s iPod, worth far more than the customary $50 fare. The woman’s family seeks justice but has been given the run-around by authorities and the driver, and hasn’t yet thought to publicize the cabbie’s name on the internet, hint hint.
