With band member names such as Cèline Dijon, Jean-Luc Retard, and Morris ‘Mars’ Chevrolet, NYC’s French-language indie rockers Nous Non Plus pull no punches. But rather than make fun of easy targets such as Serge Gainsbourg’s moody ’60s pop, the group seems to be having fun with American indie-rock and not laughing at it. This works to their credit, since they never sound pretentious. Who knows, maybe they like Jerry Lewis, too? With the Sharp Things and Clock Hand Strangle.
