If slush puddle jumping is the only winter sport you’ve experienced this season, head out to Winter Jam NYC, where East River Park will be covered in mounds of fresh snow for everyone to play in. Winter sports equipment, including tubes for sledding (on a 70-foot-long snow flume), snowshoes, and cross-country skis, will be provided for free. You’ll also see the Future of Snowboarding Invitational on a 90-foot snowscraper, a snow sculpture contest, and the high-flying trampoline team the Skyriders. And another thing we urbanites rarely see is happening February 5: the Red Bull Snowscrapers snowboarding competition with pros Shaun White, Pat Moore, and Travis Rice. Winter wonderland indeed.
