Can’t get enough of change? Find inspiration at this sneak preview of The People Speak, a new film that looks at famous and lesser-known American activists, visionaries, and rebels who have helped shape our country for the better. Inspired by Howard Zinn’s books, A People’s History of the United States and (co-authored with Anthony Arnove) Voices of a People’s History of the United States, the film features a starry cast, including John Legend, Matt Damon, Rosario Dawson, Benjamin Bratt, and Sandra Oh. Following the screening, which kicks off MOMA’s “Documentary Fortnight 2009” series, stay for music and readings by David Strathairn, Marisa Tomei, Harris Yulin, Michael Ealy, Rich Robinson of the Black Crowes, and Staceyann Chin, as well as a discussion with directors Zinn, Arnove, and Chris Moore.
