The Staten Island Advance portrays the fatal shooting of gas station attendant Mohammad Ishfaq Ahmed at the Gulf station on Victory Boulevard as a mystery. Though cashiers were on premises, they did not immediately notice that Ahmed had been shot, though they responded to his dying wish that 911 be called, and no witnesses have so far been produced, and no money appears to have been taken from the till. “He told me, ‘call the cops for me,'” a co-worker told WCBS. “After that he fell. He fell right there.” “This neighborhood is no good,” said a local taxi dispatcher.
