Missing St. John’s Student Found; Apparently Went “Riding Trains”

Erica Desai went missing on January 20, after her cousin dropped her off near the Queens campus of St. John’s University, where she was a student. Later cops got a surveillance tape of a man and a woman withdrawing money from a Manhattan ATM with Desai’s card, and went about trying to find these people. But it turned out that Desai had been expelled from St. John’s, and had been “riding the trains” since disappearing, and that the couple on the tape were Desai and a friend. She called 911 after seeing news about herself on TV, and told the cops that she had been abducted, a story she quickly recanted. She’s with her family now. (Photo via NY1.)
