The posts on Camera Obscura’s Twitter range from chipper (“Just found a feather in my beard”) to disappointed (“Annoyed that our album leaked”). But as My Maudlin Career grows nigh, the Scottish indie-pop combo clearly hasn’t let technology overwhelm them. The title track sighs like a velvet revolution, while “French Navy” garlands strings and brass across a Motown skip and the deft touch of vocalist Tracyanne Campbell. When the Tumblrs are empty and the tweets are smothered out for the evening, Camera Obscura will tell you a sad story while they tickle your neck with a feather. WIth Laura Cantrell.
