The New York State Department of Environment Conservation, fresh from kicking the ass of lizard poachers, has unveiled a new “Don’t Flush Your Drugs” poster campaign. Wait — if we don’t flush them, won’t the police confiscate them and charge us? Oh right — prescription drugs. The DEC has a website explaining how this method of disposal can adversely affect fish and wildlife, and even help create “drug-resistant microbes and bacteria.” So in future, hand them off to your underage friends. Or if you put them in the trash, “Mix with something undesirable such as coffee grounds, cat litter or dirt.” That’ll keep people from stealing them. The attractive poster, perfectly suitable for dorm rooms, is here.
