No wonder that after 35 years, Garrison Keillor still reports The News From Lake Wobegon—that place is harder than ever to find. His live-radio variety show, A Prairie Home Companion, featuring that signature monologue, drifts back to the entertainment of a cheerful, nurturing, now seemingly apocryphal era when folk musicians and witty sketches were all the components for a great Saturday evening. Most of those good feelin’s were captured in the 2006 Meryl Streep/Lindsay Lohan movie of the same name, but the weekly live broadcasts from the Fitzgerald Theater in St. Paul, Minnesota, are a different kind of magic.
