A tripe top? A tongue tie? Why not, says photographer Stephanie Diani, who claims that “Meat as fashion must be in the collective unconscious.” After all, it’s all just flesh on flesh.
Her photographs are taken in classic portrait style and truly are beautiful if you can get past the idea of wearing raw organ tissue. Diani wanted to explore the relationships between “fashion and distaste.” As more of us take up the nose-to-tail philosophy of eating, we’re embarking on a parallel journey of discovery: the tastes, textures and even idea of things like tongue, glands and brains can inspire varying reactions, from salivation to revulsion. And sometimes both at once.
