Phil Ward of Mayahuel Answers Mezcal, Tequila Questions

Over at the NYT’s Diner’s Journal, Phil Ward, the brains behind the new, fancy tequila bar, Mayahuel, is answering reader questions about spirits, particularly mezcal and tequila. Asked what tequilas he’d recommend for the home bar, Ward has this to say:

Blanco for the price Heradura Silver is hard to beat. El Tesoro and Siete Leguas are a bit pricier but worth every penny be it blanco, repo, or anejo. Bargains? El Jimador is great value. Most important if it doesn’t say 100 percent blue agave don’t touch it.
