An American Corporation May Be Responsible for Swine Flu Outbreak

Writing in, Barry Estabrook reports that an American corporation with a mega-hog farm in Veracruz state may be responsible for the swine flu outbreak. Sanitary conditions at this type of hog farm are notoriously sketchy, and Mexican authorities have accused Smithfield Farms, a Virginia corporation, for polluting water supplies in the region. Smithfield Farms is the largest producer of pork in the world, and it has come under attack in many countries for inhumane and unsanitary conditions. Is it any stretch of the imagination that they may now also be responsible for the spread of apocalyptic inter-species diseases?
