Week in Review: Penetration!

Hey, it was porn week!

Zach live-blogged the Dim Mak porn video. Jadakiss vowed to wake up beside you naked. Peter Saville’s Erotic House of Pop streamed online. Asher Roth debuted his sweet new Bukkake-inspired video. (Speaking of which, Asher Roth should probably lose that hypeman.) The police in Matt and Kim’s NAKED “Lessons Learned” video weren’t plants. And let’s not forget the Hermit Thrushes, now with pants! Next, we time we might just make it porn month.

Some other things happened. We brought you a brief history of Auto-Tune and an April comics round-up. Long lost Fortress of Solitude mix CDs were found, replicated. L Magazine named their annual “8 NYC Bands You Need To Hear.”

M.I.A. was both back on that flu beat and one of Time Magazine’s list of the 100 most influential people in 2009.

This week, we also self-aggrandized. Siren Festival 2009 announced: Built To Spill, Monotonix, Micachu and the Shapes, The Raveonettes. Status Ain’t Hood loses the Asher-Roth-Sales-Figures showcase showdown, spectacularly. SoHo vs. Disco, 1975: Vince Aletti’s The Disco Files 1973-78: New York’s Underground, Week By Week. There was Red Cafe’s “Hottest in the Hood” Remix, Featuring Jadakiss, Rick Ross, Fabolous, and OJ Da Juiceman. Jeff Nelson’s own personal first Minor Threat EP: pay no more than $1,125.00.

Things to download: summer jams from the Rapture’s Mattie Safer and Dinosaur Jr.’s “I Want You to Know.”

Live: Terry Riley’s “In C,” triumphant again at Carnegie Hall, Peter Bjorn and John, and a CBGB panel starring a pre-rehab Matt Pinfield.

I’m out, there’re men in suits cleaning the lights above my desk and I might catch swine flu if I stay.
