(Valdis Oskarsdottir, 2008).
When was the last time you saw an Icelandic road movie? This ensemble comedy marks the promising directorial debut of the editor of a number of recent Scandinavian films. It concerns a dysfunctional family en route by bus to a wedding in the beautiful Icelandic countryside. Everything that can go wrong does. The pic goes on a bit too long, but it’s well-acted and Ms. Oskarsdottir manages to walk the fine line between hilarity and despair. New York premiere.
