Greene’s mainstream swing is noticeably punchy because of the way he attacks a performance; see the new Mission Statement for some of the ferociousness. This quartet looks standard on paper: A piano trio with a horn-wielding boss. But they’ve got several tricks up their sleeve and in their hands the mainstream gets nudged toward the deep end.
