1990s

by

Thanks to VH1, we’ve overdosed on the last decade, but this Scottish band shouldn’t be blamed just because they share a name with the pre-millennium years. They don’t sound like they come from that time, which is a plus, and they have connections with Franz Ferdinand and Teenage Fanclub (though they’re much closer to the latter’s power pop than the former’s post-post-punk sound). It helps that their records and live shows are a lot of fun and that they have no use for grunge. With Sean Bones and Action Painters.
