Booze News–Beer Lao Coming to a Beer Fridge Near You; Invest In Wine Now, Say Experts


Now is the time to invest in wine, say experts, as prices of collectible vintages fell from 20 to 40 percent in the last four months of 2008. But collectors should act fast: prices are already on their way back up.

A Thai brewery has enlisted former backpackers and other foreign fans of Beer Lao to help expand its export business. The Carlsberg-backed brewery wants to see 10 percent of its flagship product sold abroad, compared to the current 1 percent. Those who have tasted the rice-based beer on trips to Thailand have become distributors back in their home countries.

A UK study says that those who work in the media drink more than professionals in any other field. British journos drink an average of 44 units a week, around double the recommended limit. Crikey!
