Lots of people with a supposedly direct pipeline to the heavens point to passages in the bible and say “See? Gays are hellbent sinners and as a result, they shouldn’t be allowed to marry!”
So why don’t they adhere to every word in the good books?
Shouldn’t they also quote God’s law to the Jews, from Deuteronomy:
“If a man has a stubborn and rebellious son who does not obey his father and mother and will not listen to them when they discipline him, his father and mother shall take hold of him and bring him to the elders at the gate of his town. They shall say to the elders, ‘This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious. He will not obey us. He is a profligate and a drunkard.’ Then all the men of his town shall stone him to death.”
Sure, this is taken out of context and it would be overly literalized if people actually acted on it today, but the same no doubt goes for the gay passages. And you never hear anyone quoting this passage!
Can you think of other biblical utterances that the haters conveniently ignore? Like something about not wearing polyester blends?
