Things We Hate–The Word ‘Foodie’

Hello, and welcome to a new feature we’re calling Things We Hate. It’s pretty straightforward.

Why not food-lover, or home cook, or frequent diner, or even chowhound, or anything other than the infantile “foodie?” When people call themselves foodies, we find it both weirdly boastful and a little bit embarrassing. The word foodie makes us squirm.
