A Sandwich Shop As A Stage–Tiny’s Hosts LostLES

by

Tiny’s Giant Sandwich Shop in the LES will host an installation conceived by Michael Brown, an environmental designer and the founder of Lot71, a design firm that specializes in “experiential spaces.” LostLES pays homage to the neighborhood by making use of Tiny’s setting “behind two plate-glass windowed walls that create a transparent, double-sided environment–from the outside, an intimate space on a vibrant LES street corner; from the inside, court-side seats to experience the vibrancy flow by, in all directions.”

The installation will feature a shot of an old tenement building on Orchard Street projected inside Tiny’s, and a mural of this painted by local artists, transforming the pint-sized sandwich shop into “a jewel-box, experiential stage of the LES.”

LostLES begins this Friday, June 5, and runs through September 2009, when Tiny’s will celebrate its 10-year anniversary.
